About Cranbrook Photo
It’s no fooling that when Cranbrook Photo first opened its doors on April 1, 1975 cameras weren’t the only items offered. After a short stay in another downtown location, the shop moved to 800 Baker Street, and customers were curious to see what had become of one of the city’s most storied heritage buildings.
The you-name-it-we’ve-got-it business sold everything from pharmaceuticals to musical instruments, books, records, cassettes and even eight-tracks. Fortunately, it didn’t take long before owner Brian Clarkson quickly realized it’s best to go with what you know, and the young former newspaperman whittled his wares down to photographic equipment and services.
Thirty-three years later, Cranbrook Photo has evolved in stride with advances made in photographic technology. A fully digital studio allows instant satisfaction for family and business sittings, while four modern kiosks give customers the opportunity to select, edit and size straight from digital memory cards; instantly sending photos to our professional processor. Most often, beautiful prints are available in an hour or less.
Those looking to upgrade their equipment will find Cranbrook Photo’s expert staff extremely helpful explaining our wide range of digital cameras and accessories.
Tucked in the main floor corner, where framing was once found, our digital department offers retouching, collages, restoration, digital editing.
